9 Reasons to Join
1. Nationwide Recognition.
Victoria Golf Club is ranked #14 on the list of Canada's Top Golf Courses by Golf Digest (2015), #1 on Vancouver Island and #3 in B.C. We are the oldest private golf club in Golf Digest's Top 20 Courses in Canada. Our rankings prove time and again why becoming a Member of the Victoria Golf Club should be #1 on your list.
2. Temperate Micro-Climate.
Oak Bay is one of the sunniest, driest places in Canada during the peak summer months, and has the mildest winter weather in the country. We're often golfing in the sun in December while most of the country is covered in snow! Members cannot remember ever seeing a temporary green during the winter months. Oak Bay area receives one-third annual rainfall of Vancouver and less than Toronto.
3. Unmatched Scenery & Wildlife.
With seven holes along the water, the Victoria Golf Club is one of the most scenic courses in the world! We experience unique wildlife here such as: orca whales, bald eagles, harbour seals, otters, mink, etc. We are home to two resident eagles who produce eaglets each spring - sightings are daily occurrences for our Members and guests.
4. Impressive Staff Departments.
We have seven PGA Professionals at your service to help you improve your game, all led by our Head Golf Professional, Lindsay Bernakevitch. Our Pro Shop is staffed with three Associate Professionals and two Assistant Teaching Professionals who utilize the "AboutGolf" simulator for lessons and club fitting. We also have full-time Merchandisers whose knowledge about golf apparel will benefit you greatly when selecting or ordering the latest attire and accessories.

The Victoria Golf Club's 18 holes are always kept in superb conditions by our Links Department directed by Superintendent of Links, Paul Robertson. The course is playable year-round thanks to the multi-million dollar capital improvements in drainage and irrigation, and our state-of-the-art Turf Care Centre. Our holes play differently from one day to the next that even our long-time Members say they experience something different each and every time out.
Our Food & Beverage team, led by Executive Chef, Nathan Waters, focuses on local and seasonal ingredients - over 95% of the menu is prepared in-house. Our experienced and professional team flawlessly executes a la carte services, Club events and private functions.
The Administration department (or the "hub" as we call it), led by General Manager, Scott Kolb, ensures that all Members' needs are well taken care of. From enrollment to payments and all inquiries, comments and concerns, the team of professionals in Administration handles everything with a smile.
5. Rich History.
The oldest, 18-hole private golf course in Canada (and the oldest on the continent west of the Mississippi), the Victoria Golf Club was founded in 1893. The Tudor-style, 1920's Clubhouse holds a proud place on the National Heritage Register, and has been fully renovated with modern amenities. You will enjoy state-of-the-art facilities such as: the Pro Shop, Men's & Women's Locker Rooms, Junior Clubhouse and welcoming dining facilities, all surrounded by our historic links. VGC is a popular venue for private events and weddings; and an incomparable place to play golf 364 days a year (we only close for Santa).
6. Active Social Calendar.
From the elegant Monte Carlo Gala and the President's Dinner, to the family-friendly Canada Day BBQ and the popular Vinos & Tapas wine tastings - there is something for every family member at the Club! We offer morning fitness classes on Mondays & Wednesdays, numerous luncheons and dinners, weekly bridge and mixed golf events. Our social calendar is always full of things to do for the entire family. Click here to view our Calendar of Events.
7. A Diverse and Welcoming Membership.
Our Members come from all walks of life, but they all take pride in belonging to VGC, sharing the same values of camaraderie, respect and fair play. We offer diverse packages to assist singles and families to enjoy our Club to the fullest. View our Membership Packages.
8. Charity & Community.
VGC Members raise over $100,000 every year for local charities through special golf and entertainment events. The Victoria Golf Club takes pride in giving back to our community and local groups such as: Victoria Women's Transition House, KidSportVictoria and the Evans Caddie Scholarship Program (the first in Canada).
9. Philosophy of Innovation & Investment.
We take pride in our history, but we strive to embrace the present and prepare for the future. Recent capital projects include complete drainage and irrigation replacement (2006), renovation of all bunkers (2015), construction of a state-of-the-art maintenance facility (2012) and a brand new kitchen (2015).
