Head Professional

Head Golf Professional Mike Parker was born in England but grew up and went to school in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. Mike started as an Assistant Professional under the tutelage of Paul Trapp in 1969 and assumed the position of Head Professional in October of 1984 when Paul Trapp retired. A long time supporter of the PGA of British Columbia, Mike served as President of the BCPGA in 1984 and 1985 and was named Club Professional of the year in 1986. Mike has served on the Advisory Board of the Professional Golf Management Program at Camosun College since its inception in 1998.
Mike is extremely proud that the Pro Shop of the Victoria Golf Club has long been recognized as one of the finest facilities in British Columbia - organizing and running a great variety of member programs and events. A strong staff of Assistant and Associate Golf Professionals work very hard to look after the golfing needs of the entire membership of the club. Over the years, Mike has developed and shaped the careers of many Assistant and Associate Golf Professionals, during his 23 years as Head Professional at Victoria, eight have moved on to become Head Professionals or General Managers in the golf industry - Jim Goddard HP at Cordova Bay GC, Chris Herkel HP Crown Isle GC, Dale Broughton at Valley Golf Center John Kadin HP at Gallagher’s Canyon, Ron Gill HP at Leamington GC , Scott Kolb - General Manager Victoria GC, Todd Mahovlich HP at Bear Mountain GC, Steve Haggard, Eagle Ranch and Tara Roden - the first female Head Professional in B.C.
Mike has worked at the Victoria Golf Club for 41 years and is one of the longest serving golf professionals in the country.

Associate Professional
Colin McCulley - PGA

Colin is a 21-year member of the Canadian PGA and has been with Victoria Golf Club for 22 years. A factory-certified Callaway and Ping custom club fitter, Colin is available most days for fitting sessions. He will focus his teaching on both individual and group lessons for the beginner to advanced player. On-course playing lessons are also offered, specializing in club selection and course management decisions. Short game lessons are available for putting, chipping and bunker shots, which will surely lower your scores.

After completion of the Camosun College Professional Golf Management Program in 2001, Arlen continued his apprenticeship on Vancouver Island after moving from the interior of B.C. where he worked for two seasons at the Castlegar Golf Club and then on to the Arbutus Ridge Golf Club. During his 3 years of employment there he completed his playing ability test become a member of the CPGA and the first two levels of the teaching and coaching certification program. He has enjoyed teaching all abilities, ages and genders and has become one of the junior coordinators for the club.

Assistant Professional
Paul Farkas - PGA

Paul has come to VGC from Elmhurst Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg. During his professional career, Paul has also worked at such clubs as Kananaskis Country Golf Course and Eagle Point Golf Club.
When he’s not playing or teaching, Paul can be found down on the point fishing for salmon (somewhat unsuccessfully).
Paul loves golf and has made it his career goal to teach and promote the game. So next time you need help with any facet of this 'easy' game we call golf, swing by the Pro Shop and meet our newest professional.
