Evans Scholars Par Club
In September, 2015, the Victoria Golf Club Evans Scholars Foundation joined the Evans Caddie Par Club to change the course of a lifetime, one caddie at a time.
All our Members who generously donate to the VGC Evans Scholars Par Club Program will now receive a Revenue Canada-approved Charitable Tax Receipt (NOTE: to receive a tax receipt for 2015, please make your donation prior to the end of 2015).
After many years of work, the Club (thanks to the efforts of former President, Jim Wessel) has refined a method by which donations to our Evans caddies can be made through the Victoria Foundation, thereby enabling the Foundation to issue charitable tax receipts that will be recognized by the CRA.
Each year, VGC is expected to contribute thousands of dollars to the Evans program - which, thus far, has granted three of our graduating caddies full university tuition and housing for four years. Since 2006, the Club has raised some $125,000 for the program; the value of the scholarships to date is US$450,000. Converting the currency, that is a ratio of roughly 4:1. VGC is expected to continue the contribution stream, and this tax-deductible designation will greatly assist us in reaching our annual goal.
The cornerstone of this new fundraising effort will be the opportunity for Members to enroll in the Evans Scholars Foundation Par Club Program (described in the brochure). Members wishing to join the Par Club at any level are asked to fill out the form and hand it in to the Front Desk with payment. You can find the form around the Clubhouse, or simply download the PDF here. Of course, additional donations will be greatly appreciated - and will earn you an even greater tax deduction!
For inquiries regarding the Par Club and how you can get involved, please contact our General Manager, Scott Kolb, at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We thank our many VGC Members for their ongoing support of this well-established and, so far, quite successful Club initiative. Remember, every dollar you donate goes directly towards tuition and housing for a VGC Evans Scholar. A great way to give back to a young and promising Member of our own community!
